Intended to be used with a Proofing Hydrometer
Using a proofing parrot allows real-time ABV measurements as the still is running. Place the tall end of the parrot under the still offtake and a collection vessel under the parrot's spout. Carefully place a proofing hydrometer into the parrot.
Having real-time ABV readings can be very helpful, however, it should be noted (depending on the size of the still and run) that the use of a parrot can introduce smearing. To minimize this avoid using it near critical cut points.
